Do It Yourself Solar Power? - Easy DIY Solar Panel Installation!

Solar Power and renewable energy is the way of the future. Get $250 dollars off your custom solar plans HERE: It is the instruction booklet I used to install the solar panels on my house - but will be specifically designed for your home.
If you want someone ELSE to install your solar. Tesla Solar is priced better than most. $250 Tesla Solar discount is here:
Attempt any DIY project at your own risk. Follow local code. Working with electricity can be dangerous.
Here are my numbers.
I have an 8.06kw solar system. It cost me $13,300 (before incentives)
With the federal incentive for 2020 (26% tax credit) and my state tax credit ($1600) it brings the cost of my system down to $8,243. Remember these are 2020 prices.
Tesla would have charged me $17,000 to install a 7.56kw system in 2020.
Another company bid $21,200 for an 8kw system.
and a fourth company was $21,700 for fully installed 8.68kw
(all those bids are before government incentives)
My energy costs around $0.11 per kWh on average. Using a solar calculator like the one here: I can see that my system will generate about 12,000 kWh per year. Which is about $1,319 worth of energy. So my system will 'pay itself off' in about 6.2 years with incentives, and 10 years without the incentives. The best part though, is that over 30 years my panels will generate around $35,000 dollars worth of energy. Far more than what I paid. And they'll keep on making energy longer than that. Totally worth it.

It is an awesome exclusive guide for generating your own electricity without the headache. Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my co-worker got excellent results with it.

  • hey Jerry, nice install. looks great and very well done. I'm pretty sure you are familiar with Sunpower and I currently have a system of 24 E20 327 but since I expanded the house an extra 450 sq. ft. my energy consumption went up pretty quick. I have bought 6 more E20 435 Sunpower that I want to add to my current system; the E20 327 have their micro inverter and a big power inverter at the wall but the E20 435 do not. would you recommend adding these new 6 panels to the current system or should I consider buying a sunnyboy inverter to assist the original system? tkx

  • DAMN! You people in the US are paying way too much for solar energy. Here in India (New Delhi), a 1KW system costs nearly ₹50,000/- which translates to around 750$. So an 8 KW system as installed by you would cost ₹400,000/- which is nearly $5,700 and that is EXCLUDING the government subsidies whereas you just paid $8000 after subsidies for a same capacity system. A normal consumer breaks even here in about 4-5 years. The only advantage in your system is the life of panels which is 25 years in India and, as you said, 30 years in the US. Similar to the US, the panels are manufactured here in India only and we also house some of the largest Mega Solar Power Plants in the world. That being said, I liked your video and appreciate you going green. ❤️☺️

  • I really want to add some solar to my house and it'll be great too get discount and feed it back to the city. But my primary objective is to be able to switch to off grid. I'm kind of a prepper and would like to be able to have power in case there's a devestating earthquake or an attack or whatever may happen. I live in southern California. So on this system how would I be able to add a switch over to battery power? I believe he said that in this system if it doesn't see the city power it will not produce charge it's that part of the circuit technology on this system? And if that's the case will this not work for a switch over to battery system?

  • Excellent Project !!! I like this type of project !!! I built a similar one here ... @ !!! ...your comments are welcome!!!

  • So DIY mean having a team to help, I counted at least 4 more people helping, technically not really DIY. Also it's not just about Co2 cose but enviromental damage caused by actual production of the solar panels, as in mining for the silica, and the chemical by-products. I used to be a Jerry rig fan, but now he does charity work for brats, and big corporate videos, I am not so much of fan.

    • I have to agree neither solar panels or wind turbines can really be considered "Green" the pollution produced by the manufacture is beyond belief. They may be carbon neutral or negative, but the chemicals used and the byproducts make Love Canal look like a happy, healthy swimming pool.

  • Jerry you should walk on the frame not the glass. When you walk on the glass you actually cause micro fractures in the solar cells which are already fragile to begin. Speaking from experience.

    CreamyCreamy18 hari yang lalu
  • DO NOT STAND ON SOLAR PANELS!!! As a solar installer, I can safely say that you are almost guaranteed to mess them up. The issue is that the damage isn't visible. The glass will be fine, but the crystalline structure underneath will be damaged. The panels my still work, but with greatly reduced efficiency

    • @orion1820 thanks for letting me know still learning after all, i sued no ox all the time crimping 500 flex

Mayo StuidoMayo Stuido14 hari yang lalu
    • @Mayo Stuido typically no ox is used when you have two conductors made of different material.. in the real world. The stuff is nasty and reminds me of teflon paste in that: If you get it one place you will have it everywhere.

      orion1820orion182014 hari yang lalu
    • @orion1820 why not use no ox then

Mayo StuidoMayo Stuido18 hari yang lalu
    • Wire nuts will back off in changing temps. Every time it goes from hot to cold they can back off a little bit. It also helps keep moisture out of them. Moisture creates oxidation and the connection can get even hotter and cause the wire nut to back off. So taping them up helps on many levels.

The "grey" is called conduit lol. And, your holes through your siding etc are creating massive air leaks for your house by not sealing them with foam. A 1 inch hole can carry as much as 30 quarts of water in an average humid season. As a licensed contractor, this video is a bit humorous erus. I think phones are more your thing man.
