Customize your own 'Not-a-Wheelchair' right here: We wanted to create something affordable, and capable and I think we've done it. Huge thanks to Utah Trikes for their help designing and manufacturing The Rig. We hope it brings as many miles of happiness, adventure, and exploration to you as it has done for us. Designing an affordable bike that happens to be accommodating has taken us more than a year and a half. Of course we plan on building and improving The Rig over the next few years. We welcome all suggestions for improvement in the comments! Let us know what you think!

  • You need to have a tire for rocks and tuff dirt and other tires for snow and sand Like if you agree

    Jedi PRichJedi PRichHari Yang lalu
  • Could it possibly do better on sand if the tires were deflated? Adding on-board tire pressure control would be an expensive option but if tested and found worthwhile it might be something to consider as an option. Anyone willing to spend $4750 for this vehicle probably wouldn’t mind paying another $500-$1000 for tire psi control. And BTW for people commenting that this is too expensive, have you seen the prices of higher end electric bicycles? 😳 It might shock you! Lastly, if marketed as a medical device and covered through insurance this price would likely double! If it’s out of reach financially search online for grants or maybe start a gofundme page. Raising $5k is fairly easy to do online these days. Best wishes to all with challenges! Wheel on! 🦽

  • This seems 100% like a good product that will mean the fucking world to those it is meant for. I suppose if all the paperwork is done it may very well be covered by insurance, anyway. The word for the video is "wholesome." If I were a paraplegic, suddenly owning something like this and having that extra degree of freedom would probably make me so happy I'd feel the urge to weep.

  • I just placed an order for the rig for my wife. I am constantly looking for anything to give her the choice to go where she likes instead of where she is constrained by lack of mobility devices. I remember so well the first time we watched the ocean from a parking lot instead of a walk on the beach. I have been on a non stop search for the last few years to never feel so bad and helpless as I watch that tear run down my wife's cheek. She never said a word but, it broke my heart. She has many what I call toys now including a Freedom Trax for the beach and I am happy to add the rig for bike trails and wide hiking trails. Looking forward to the rig arriving hopefully in November 2020. Thank you is not enough, but I know from your own experience you understand how grateful I am.

  • Awesome stuff! Great work on the 'Not a Wheelchair' / The Rig. The one thing that I thought of pretty much immediately from a safety point was that the chair could use a safety belt or harness, or the option to add one. Although I would think that you probably have thought of that before or someone might have suggested it.

  • Having cerebral palsy and a tricycle. Anything you can think of to bring down the centre of gravity, whilst being narrow and stable would be great.

  • I had bone deformity for 5 years that started when i was 3 years old, i couldn't walk anymore and i hated it, my school told me they didn't had the space and time for a kid in a wheelchair so i had to go to a school for disabled kids. Me and my mom did everything together but there just where a lot of places we couldn't go because of the wheelchair. After 5 years of staying at the hospital for 3 days a week i got cured and got the strength in my bones back. You give all these people in a wheelchair the opportunity to go places they could otherwise never go, and without breaking the bank. Giving these people a little bit of their freedom back is amazing. Can't wait for the 2.0 version and i hope you keep improvising and come with more of these project's that literally change the world for a lot of people.

  • What an incredible vehicle you have built. I have watched you videos about the rig over the last few hours. It's fantastic. May I offer a suggestion for future models. When I showed my wife one of the videos she said that she would not be able to operate the brakes due to limited mobility and strength in her fingers. I gave this some thought and remembered seeing a video about an early attempt at mobility made just after the second world war . A quite dangerous vehicle called an invacar.(loads on youtube) . The one thing from this which I think might be an additional option for your incredible machine is a tiller like steering system the beauty of which is the way it operates the throttle and brakes. You simply lift the steering bar up to open the throttle and press it down to apply the brakes. please understand I am not saying it would improve the brilliant work you have done it may just be another option for people with other mobility issues. Best wishes from the UK FDO

The JáchymThe Jáchym16 hari yang lalu
  • Suggestion, with it being so narrow and having a high COG it scares me to death at how easily it can probably tip over. More travel in the suspension and independent rear suspension will help tremendously. Obviously there is added cost there with having to modify the rear axles as well but your price point I think leaves some room for upgrade and still be less expensive than the competition. Just some thoughts. You’ve both done a great job with it so far.
