Picking a TV is hard! This is the OLED TV I was using in this video: lgoled.co/JerryRigEverything With the massive difference in the starfield video Ive decided to use OLED for my office TV. Huge thanks to LG for sponsoring this video. Without seeing the TV's side by side, its hard to pick the best one. Technology has gotten so good these days, picking the best TV of 2019 has been pretty difficult. Hopefully this video is able to she some light on the difference between OLED and QLED.

  • I'm seeing this video almost a year out. I appreciate your scientific approach with the microscope. It would be great to see if you could make the same comparison with MiniLED like with the TCL635. Also, if you could help us to consider the real world application/benefit if we took a pass on the OLED tech (say, in order to prevent burn in, or to have lower latency and higher refresh rates needed for gaming) . Thanks.

  • Did a lot of research and was blown away by the picture quality of the Oled. A QLED doesn’t come close to the picture quality of a OLED. Sadly though around 18 months usage of @ 7 hours a day., 2 hours of which is cnbc news - my panel has burn in. Burn is a real issue. LG’s software pixel shift, refresher, logo luminous will take care of most issues. I have used all of it diligently. What they will not be able to fix is the edge of the ticker boxes which news channel have. I now watch the cnbc news with the display turned off to avoid more damage. It might sound funny - it really ain’t. Till OLED panels can fix this it’s just not worth the anxiety. It’s really sad that burn in is not included in the warranty.

  • Very good information on the OLED and QLED. I had a Samsung QLED and love it! Unfortunately my son broke the TV when he shot it with a nerf gun lol. Don’t like the fact that the OLED TV can have a burn in on the screen. The QLED doesn’t have burn in. I think I will stick to the QLED since I already owned one.

  • Real life OLED's do NOT possess an "infinite" contrast ratio. Yes, they can be turned off to produce pure black, but there is a perceptible gap between that pure black and the darkest shade of gray they can produce. All of the missing shades of darkest gray in that gap are effectively crushed down to black. The true contrast ratio of any display is the quotient of its brightest level of white divided by its darkest shade of GRAY.

  • You missed one point. Phone manufacturers are using OLED because it saves more power then an LCD. If you have a background that's mainly all dark, those pixels aren't being used, which means your phone doesn't use as much battery. OLED TV's also save a bit of power in the long run too, because they don't need a powerful backlight that needs lots of power. Yes OLED TV's use more power which uses more money, but they also give some of that back by not lighting up every single pixel. So I would say OLED is a more better choice if your goal is saving money, because OLED will save you more money in the long run.
