Taking apart that one phone... we already forgot existed?

Remember this guy? Betcha already forgot what its called... huh. Well this is the TCL 10 Pro. Its a midrange smartphone, The first of its kind from a company called TCL. They make TV's and other electronics, but this is the first time they plopped their name on a smartphone. (current pricing here: amzn.to/312eSVQ) Its got four cameras on the back... but no OIS! Is that a sacrifice you're willing to make? I mean... that headphone jack is appealing though.

  • I mean I would buy it if it has good features and the price is right. Also important for me are android updates. I am not really concerned about bugs I tested and had some LG phones and they always had their bugs. One even made me return it because it drained in 2 hours or something (in 2013 I think). Now I have Motorola and its not buggy at all and it was not expensive.

  • I use a 10W wirelesscharger for my S20 ultra because i usually also charge over night. And the size of the phone means heat is more easily spread out. The built in 5000mah battery normally will last me up towards a week since i use my tablet the majority of the time. The main reason i choose the s20 ultra is because of the nice large screen that makes it feel like a mini tablet. 8K video recording and 108mp camera makes it interesting taking photos and shooting videos.

  • Just get a Moto g7 power, Moto makes amazing cheap phones, in my poor opinion, out of all the cheapest phones I've owned, Motorola is the only phone I've had last longer than a year, most cheap phones honestly don't hold up especially since I do construction and deconstruction, a tough phone is a need, but anything over 150 is just not possible for me, so I got an e5, fast charger for most Moto phones and there batteries last a while, let's not forget my current one, the G7, it can last two three days of constant use and not die on one charge, which takes at most 35 minutes, so yeah, plus the Moto actions are legitimately useful, don't have to turn on my phone to turn on the light or open my camera? Hell yeah, there's literally nothing you can complain about aside from camera quality, finger print scanner, runs everything with zero performance issues and I can play hefty games for hours if I want too without fear of running out of battery, you literally cannot go wrong with Motorola unless you get there flagships or experimental phones like the modern razr

  • TCL has been around a while in Europe and Asia, earlier they used to make phones under Alcatel brand. They've also been an ODM for a few Panasonic phones in India. The main issue with them was really poor update support. Do not expect timely security or Android updates with this brand....but if that does not matter to you, this company usually delivers value for money products.

About 2 months ago the deal between TCL and Blackberry has ended. The phone you took apart might have been aimed at a new Blackberry for the Eastern world market. TCL has moved there manufacturing to northern Vietnam. Hope that helps you out.
